Missing CD-ROM(s)
From time to time one of the issues that we fix for people is a missing CD-ROM. When they press the button to open the
CD-ROM it opens (that thus is somewhat mechanically sound) but the actual drive letter(s) do not show in My Computer.

Possible fix
Open regedit (I'm afraid that if you don't know how to do this you possibly shouldn't be do this at all) and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
and delete upperfilter and lowerfilter entries.
Reboot
